Cookie Policy

How TrendCrypt uses cookies, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies, and how you can manage your privacy preferences.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

TrendCrypt is an independent crypto safety and research website. We publish educational guides, crypto news, wallet-safety resources, scam warnings, platform research, and transparent casino reviews.

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies when you visit TrendCrypt, which tools may collect website usage information, how long certain information may be stored, and how you can manage your preferences.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains our broader collection, use, and handling of information.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store in your browser. They can help a website remember settings, recognize returning browsers, maintain sessions, or measure website activity.

Websites may also use technologies that perform similar functions, including:

  • Local storage, which saves information in your browser between visits
  • Session storage, which generally lasts for a browser tab or session
  • Analytics scripts that measure page views and website interactions
  • Identifiers used to recognize browser activity across visits
  • Other browser technologies used for functionality, performance, or security

In this policy, we use the term "cookies" to refer collectively to cookies and similar storage or tracking technologies, unless a specific distinction is important.

2. How TrendCrypt uses cookies

TrendCrypt uses two categories of technologies: strictly necessary technologies and optional analytics technologies.

Strictly necessary

These technologies help us remember your privacy preferences and support essential website functionality. They do not require you to enable optional analytics.

Analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager and PostHog to better understand how readers use our website.

Analytics help us measure readership, understand navigation patterns, identify popular content, and improve the website. They are optional and are not initialized through our consent-controlled analytics loader unless you have permitted analytics.

Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent you from reading TrendCrypt's publicly available content.

3. Strictly necessary cookies and storage

TrendCrypt stores a record of your cookie preferences so that you do not need to make the same selection on every page or visit.

Cookie consent preference

  • Name: trendcrypt_cookie_consent
  • Provider: TrendCrypt
  • Type: First-party browser cookie
  • Purpose: Remembers whether you allowed optional analytics
  • Duration: Up to 180 days
  • Category: Strictly necessary

The consent record contains your analytics preference, a consent version, and the time your preference was last saved. It is used to determine whether optional analytics may run.

When your consent expires, or if the saved preference becomes invalid, TrendCrypt may ask you to choose again.

Website functionality and security

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical information required to deliver pages, maintain website availability, detect abuse, and protect against security threats. This processing is separate from the optional Google Analytics and PostHog tools described below.

Depending on the services and protections enabled, necessary infrastructure technologies may operate independently of your analytics preference.

4. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager

TrendCrypt uses Google Tag Manager to manage website measurement tags, including Google Analytics.

When you consent to analytics, Google Analytics may collect information about how you interact with TrendCrypt.

This may include:

  • Pages visited and page-view activity
  • Referring websites and traffic sources
  • Browser and device characteristics
  • Approximate geographic information
  • Session activity and navigation between pages
  • Interactions with selected website links and features

Google Analytics cookies

Depending on the Google Analytics configuration and browser settings, cookies may include:

  • _ga: Helps distinguish browsers for analytics measurement. Its typical maximum lifetime is two years, subject to configuration and browser restrictions.
  • _ga_*: Google Analytics 4 cookies used to maintain measurement information and session state. Their lifetime depends on configuration and browser behavior.

Google Tag Manager is a system for managing tags. It does not, by itself, require an analytics cookie for basic operation. Cookies and other data collection depend on the tags configured within the container.

Our consent-controlled configuration is intended to prevent optional analytics tags from loading before permission is granted. Google advertising-related consent settings are kept denied in this configuration.

You can read more about Google's data practices in the Google Privacy Policy.

5. PostHog analytics

TrendCrypt uses PostHog to understand website usage and improve navigation, content organization, and the reading experience.

When you allow analytics, PostHog may record page views, basic browser and device information, referring information, and other technical details associated with website activity.

Our current PostHog configuration disables automatic interaction capture and session recordings. We use explicit page-view tracking to measure navigation through TrendCrypt.

Visitor identification

With analytics consent, TrendCrypt generates a random visitor identifier to help recognize returning browsers for analytics purposes. This identifier is not based on a name, email address, or TrendCrypt user account.

The following information is stored in your browser:

  • trendcrypt_visitor_id: A randomly generated identifier used for PostHog analytics.
  • trendcrypt_visitor_id_expiry: Records when that identifier expires.

These values are stored in browser local storage. The visitor identifier is configured to expire after 30 days, after which a new identifier may be generated if analytics consent remains active.

PostHog may also use its own cookies or local storage keys, including identifiers with names beginning with ph_, depending on its SDK configuration.

Our PostHog configuration specifies a 30-day cookie expiration, although individual storage items and browser limitations may affect their actual lifetime.

When you withdraw analytics consent, our website stops PostHog capture, removes known first-party analytics identifiers, and reloads the page where necessary to stop previously loaded analytics tools.

You can learn more in the PostHog Privacy Policy.

6. Affiliate links and external websites

Some TrendCrypt pages contain affiliate or referral links to third-party websites, including crypto casinos and other platforms discussed in our research and reviews.

These links may contain referral parameters, campaign identifiers, or other information that helps the destination website determine where a visitor came from.

When you click an affiliate link, the destination website or its tracking providers may use their own cookies, referral systems, or similar technologies.

Those technologies are controlled by the destination website or its providers, not by TrendCrypt's cookie preferences.

We recommend reviewing the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy of any external platform before creating an account or providing personal information.

Affiliate relationships do not determine TrendCrypt's editorial conclusions, review scores, rankings, safety warnings, or publication decisions. Learn more about our approach in our Editorial Policy.

7. How to manage your cookie preferences

You can accept or reject optional analytics when TrendCrypt first asks for your consent. You can also change your choice at any time.

To reopen the preferences dialog, use the Cookie Settings link in our footer or select the button below.

In the preferences dialog, strictly necessary storage remains active. You can enable or disable analytics and save your updated choice.

Withdrawing analytics consent stops future optional collection through our consent-controlled tools. It does not automatically delete information already transmitted to analytics providers before consent was withdrawn.

8. Managing cookies through your browser

Most browsers allow you to view, delete, or block cookies and other stored website information.

You can generally:

  • Delete cookies stored by TrendCrypt
  • Clear local storage and other site data
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Control website storage permissions
  • Use browser privacy and tracking-protection features

Deleting the cookie preference record may cause TrendCrypt to ask for your consent again. Disabling cookies or storage may affect some functionality, but most of our published content remains accessible.

Browser-level restrictions can also affect the accuracy and availability of analytics measurements.

9. Installed app and PWA functionality

TrendCrypt can be added to your device's home screen or installed as a web app in supported browsers.

Our web app manifest provides information such as the application name, icons, display mode, and start URL. The manifest itself does not require optional analytics cookies.

If you install TrendCrypt, your browser or operating system may store application information and related website resources according to its own installation and storage behavior.

Installing TrendCrypt does not automatically grant analytics consent. Your preferences remain governed by the consent controls described in this policy.

10. How long information is stored

Storage periods vary depending on the technology, provider, configuration, and browser.

For our current website configuration:

  • Cookie consent preference: Up to 180 days
  • TrendCrypt visitor identifier: 30 days
  • Google Analytics cookies: Commonly up to two years, depending on the specific cookie and configuration
  • PostHog cookies: Configured with a 30-day expiration, subject to SDK behavior and browser restrictions
  • External platform cookies: Determined by the relevant third-party website or provider

The lifetime of a browser cookie or identifier is not necessarily the same as the retention period of analytics data processed by a provider. Provider-side data retention is governed by the applicable service settings and policies.

11. Third-party processing and international visitors

TrendCrypt is accessible to readers in different countries. Some services used to operate and analyze the website may process information outside your country of residence.

For example, our PostHog configuration uses its United States hosting endpoint. Google and other service providers may process information in locations where their infrastructure and operations are based.

Applicable privacy rights and safeguards may vary depending on your location, the type of information involved, and the relevant service provider.

For broader information about our processing practices and your privacy rights, please see our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this policy when we change our analytics tools, cookie consent configuration, browser storage practices, website functionality, or relevant legal requirements.

If a material change affects how optional technologies are used, we may request your consent again.

The most recent version of this Cookie Policy will be available on this page, with the updated publication date.

13. Contact us

If you have questions about our use of cookies, analytics, browser storage, or privacy preferences, please contact TrendCrypt at [email protected].
